Meet Liandra Gaykamangu

Meet the latest addition to our ambassadorial team, Liandra Gaykamangu. Liandra is a proud Yolngu/Gupupuyngu woman, Co-CEO of an Indigenous-controlled not-for-profit organisation called Enterprise Learning Projects (ELP), and the Founder/Creative Director of Liandra Swim.

“I am really excited to be a part of the growth and development of First Nations women that happens at QM.”

In her role with ELP, she has directly overseen the coordination of programming that supports the empowerment of Indigenous entrepreneurs in remote communities. She also currently runs an incubation and mentorship program that works intimately with entrepreneurs to grow their skills, businesses and networks.

Her very own company, Liandra Swim, is a premium swimwear label that celebrates Indigenous Australian culture and the achievements of Indigenous Australian women throughout history. With hand-drawn signature prints inspired by her Yolngu culture, Liandra's Swim line showcases our First Nation community and the unique stories we tell. Her fabrics are specially sourced and created from recycled plastic bottles and elastane, and her packaging is also eco-friendly. Liandra Swim has secured major partnerships with retailers, such as David Jones and The Iconic, and has showcased at Australia Afterpay Fashion Week and Melbourne Fashion Week.

To Liandra First Nations empowerment is synonymous with First Nations self-determination. She hopes to grow her networks within QueenMode and be a part of an amazing community of allies who support opportunities for collaboration, learning and sharing.

"I want to see more power and independence in the hands of First Nations communities - in Australia and across the globe. I would like to see this especially in countries where colonisation has had a large impact on First Nations culture and people."

We are very excited to welcome Liandra and are looking forward to all the great things she'll be bringing to the program.
